St Martin’s Gate Birmingham

Situated on New Street and adjacent to the famous ‘Bull Ring’ shopping centre, this project comprised a joint venture with Hammerson who owned the 1960’s office building and prime retail units on the ground floor.

Acting as Developer Manager, Will was responsible for the initial JV negations with Hammerson and then overseeing the project’s delivery through planning and construction.

The building was completely transformed inside and out to comprise 52 one and two bedroom apartments with the city’s major transport, leisure and shopping facilities quite literally on its doorstep!

Will, as Development Director of Midland & City Developments who undertook the project, also delivered the refurbishment of the prime retail stores on behalf of Hammerson and dealt with the handover to incoming tenants on strict deadlines.

Given its city centre location where space is a premium, innovative design and acoustics were particular issues that had to be addressed.
